Lesson I-3 – Yeast

This tasting is to help calibrate the flavor of yeast. I have chosen Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse because “hefe” means that it still has the yeast in the beer. One thing about Yeast that I neglected to mention during my drunken rant is that it is one of the very best sources of the B complex vitamins, so beers with yeast should be drunk by everybody who wants to be healthy.

A lot of craft brews are bottle conditioned which results in some amount of yeast being present, and virtually all homebrew. But in terms of the flavor and effect of yeast, go wheat.
